Blazers vs. Raptors final score: Behind Damian Lillard, Portland pulls out OT win

The Portland Trail Blazers shot past the Toronto Raptors but needed overtime after blowing a late double-digit lead.

After blowing a 17-point lead with eight minutes to play in regulation, the Portland Trail Blazers regrouped in overtime to pick up a 118-110 win against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. The sixth win in a row for Portland (8-2) came with Damian Lillard leading the way with 25 points, eight assists and five rebounds, but he got plenty of help from running mates LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum.

Aldridge scored 25 points, and Batum had his biggest game of the young season, scoring 24 points to go with six boards and four assists. The Frenchman’s 5-of-8 three-point accuracy was part of a blistering shooting afternoon for the Blazers. They ended the day by connecting on 15-of-32, or 47 percent, of their three-point shots.

Meanwhile, the Raptors struggled mightily beyond the arc. They hit 3-of-17 threes while DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay each launched 27 shots -- that duo scored 29 and 30 points, respectively.

Yet, Toronto used a rally to force overtime. Trailing 91-74 with 8:18 left in the game, the Raptors finished on a 28-11 run as the Blazers’ defense withered away. After a jump ball, the Raptors had four seconds left on the game clock to score out of a timeout. Gay slashed to the hoop for a layup to force overtime as time expired, the score tied at 102 apiece.

From there, Lillard took over for Portland. He scored the first seven points then found Batum for a three-pointer that gave the Blazers a 112-107 advantage. Batum hit another three on the next Portland possession, and Terry Stott’s team hit three more free throws to close out the game.

While the Blazers could wonder about the fourth-quarter lapse, the Raptors won't be looking at the loss as a near-comeback victory. They fell to 4-7 on the season, and aside from one of young center Jonas Valanciunas' better games this season of 19 points and nine rebounds on 8-for-11 shooting, it's back to the drawing board.
