Given the versatility of Carmelo Anthony along the frontcourt, New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson plans to mold his starting lineups based on his opponents. As Ian Begley of ESPN New York tweets, Woodson plans to start Anthony at power forward against teams rolling smaller lineups at the tip.
Knicks starting lineup will depend on matchups
‘Melo will likely switch between starting at the two forward positions depending on who New York is playing.

Woodson says he's going to play a big lineup against teams w/a big front line, for now. He plans to go small (Melo at PF) vs. smaller teams.

While Anthony will obviously start every game, the guys around him may change depending on the opponent. The Knicks have a number of versatile wings, including Anthony, Iman Shumpert and Metta World Peace, so they can try to mix-and-match their rotations depending on the nature of their opponent.
Some may oppose the lack of stability this scenario creates, as it seems to leave players uncertain of their playing time and roles over the long haul, but it’s early in the season. If there’s any time for Woodson to be tinkering with his lineups, it’s now.
