Clippers vs. Timberwolves final score: Chris Paul leads L.A. to 102-98 win

Chris Paul set an NBA record as the Clips topped Minnesota on Wednesday night.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

Chris Paul and Blake Griffin each delivered double-doubles as the Los Angeles Clippers upended the Minnesota Timberwolves, 102-98, on Wednesday night. It's the fourth loss in six games for Minnesota after a strong start to the season.

Paul had another superb game for the Clippers, leading with 20 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and four steals. According to ESPN, he’s first player in NBA history to record 10 points and 10 assists in the 12 games of a season.

The Clippers had a mistake-ridden performance Wednesday, committing 25 fouls and 19 turnovers, but the Timberwolves couldn't take advantage of the opportunities afforded to them. After going cold in the second half of a 104-100 loss to the Wizards on Tuesday, Minnesota hit just 38 percent of its shots Wednesday as those issues continued.

The bench didn’t do many favors for the Timberwolves, shooting just 5-of-23 from the field, but the real culprit against Los Angeles was Kevin Love. Often faced up against Griffin, Love finished 2-of-14 with 10 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, filling the box score without his usual efficiency.

Adding to Paul's strong effort, Griffin recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds as L.A. improves to 8-4 this season. Kevin Martin added 28 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
