The NBA announced it has fined Sacramento Kings swingman Travis Outlaw $15,000 for "excessive and unnecessary contact" to Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick that initially warranted an ejection on Saturday, according to Yahoo! Sports' Marc J. Spears.

Sacramento Kings swingman Travis Outlaw was fined $15,000 by the NBA after a hard foul on Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick.

With eight minutes left in the game and the Kings leading 89-88, Outlaw ran down Redick on a Clippers fastbreak but grabbed Redick’s right shoulder as the Los Angeles guard attempted a layup. Redick took a hard fall, and after a video review, the officials ejected Outlaw for a Flagrant 2 foul after it appeared he didn’t make an effort to go after the ball.
The ejection was Outlaw’s first of his career.
The Clippers ended up winning 103-102, and Outlaw finished with eight points, five rebounds and two blocks. He told the Sacramento Bee afterward he didn’t mean to make Redick fall so violently.
“When I reached out I couldn’t stop him from falling,” Outlaw said. “I was trying to but he was too strong and he went on down. It happens I guess.”
Outlaw is averaging 6.5 points per game while shooting 47 percent from three-point range this season and hitting 94 percent of his free throws.
