Bradley Beal injury: Washington Wizards guard out at least 2 weeks with stress injury

The Wizards will be without Bradley Beal for a minimum of two weeks.

Eric P. Mull-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Wizards will be without second-year shooting guard Bradley Beal for at least two weeks after an MRI revealed a stress injury to his proximal right fibula, the team officially announced. Beal has played in all 13 of the Wizards' previous contests and is averaging 20.6 points per game. He is also averaging 40.2 minutes per game for Washington, tied with Carmelo Anthony for the league's highest minute load.

Bullets Forever: Beal out at least two weeks

This is the second straight season Beal has suffered a stress injury to his right leg, though the specific location of the injury is different. He missed the final eight games of his rookie season because of a stress injury to his distal right fibula.

Beal has been a key to the Wizards starting lineup. Washington averages 21.6 points per 100 possessions less when he is on the bench, an area the Wizards have struggled with through the start of the season, according to the NBA’s media-only stats website. It is unclear who will start at shooting guard in place of Beal.

Trevor Ariza is expected to return to the starting lineup at small forward after missing five games, which could help head coach Randy Wittman sort through the lack of depth at the wing positions without Beal.
