Russell Westbrook has cleared all medical benchmarks for his knee rehab and will play for the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday against the Phoenix Suns, reports Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman. Westbrook was expected to miss up to a month of the regular season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery during training camp to fix a loose stitch that was discovered during a diagnosis.

The Thunder's superstar point guard initially underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus he suffered during the team's first-round playoff match up against the Houston Rockets last April. Other than the loose stitch, Westbrook's knee had recovered from that initial injury.
Oklahoma City has split their first two games without Westbrook. Reggie Jackson has started in his place, averaging 11 points and 3.5 assists per game, but teams have continued to focus their defense around Kevin Durant. Durant has averaged 19.5 field goal attempts, shouldering the load on offense without Westbrook.
Westbrook averaged 23.2 points and 7.4 assists per game through the 2012-2013 regular season.
