Timberwolves vs. Knicks final score: Kevin Love leads Minnesota over New York

Love tallied 34 points, 15 rebounds and one dap from Spike Lee in the win.

Kevin Love had 34 points, 15 rebounds and five assists to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 109-100 victory over the New York Knicks Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. The Wolves moved to 3-0 on the season with the win.

Minnesota was on the verge of blowing New York out of the Garden, opening up a 40-19 lead after the first quarter. Slowly but surely, the Knicks got back into the game, trimming the deficit to just two points midway through the fourth quarter thanks to a Iman Shumpert three.

But then Pablo Prigioni picked up a technical foul, and after Kevin Martin knocked down the technical free throw, Martin buried a three to push the Wolves' lead back out to six. Love then poured in a tough bank shot, prompting an unexpected dap from Spike Lee:

The Knicks only managed two points the rest of the way.

Martin had a super-efficient night for Minnesota, scoring 30 points on just 12 shots. The guard made all five of his three-pointers and went 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Nikola Pekovic added a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and 17 rebounds in defeat for New York. Metta World Peace chipped in 17 points off the bench. The Knicks struggled shooting from long range, going 9-of-32 on threes.

New York is 1-2 on the young year.
