Rockets vs. Trail Blazers final score: Houston bounces back for 116-101 road win in Portland

James Harden goes for 33 points, Dwight Howard for 29 and 13 boards in the victory.

The Houston Rockets were blown out of Staples Center on Monday night after giving up 137 points to the Clippers, but they were able to snuff out a hot-shooting Trail Blazers team, 116-101, on the second night of a back-to-back in Portland.

James Harden had 33 points and Dwight Howard put up 29 points and 13 rebounds to lead the way for the Rockets, and the two recovered nicely after being picked apart by Chris Paul and Los Angeles the night before.

Houston shot better than 54 percent from the floor and dominated the Blazers on the glass by a 47-30 margin. Portland managed to shoot only 41 percent, and despite committing six fewer turnovers, they were kept at arm’s length for most of the second half.

One night after the Rockets' starting lineup combined for a +/- of negative-105, Harden, Howard, Omer Asik, Chandler Parsons and Jeremy Lin combined for a plus-57 against Portland. Damian Lillard led the way for the Trail Blazers with 22 points, LaMarcus Aldridge had 21 and Wesley Matthews had 19 points.
