Hawks’ Dennis Schroder suspended 1 game for groin hit on DeMarcus Cousins
The Atlanta Hawks rookie will miss Thursday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets.

In the Kings' 105-100 win against Atlanta on Tuesday, Cousins set a screen atop the key for teammate Isaiah Thomas, who was being defended by Schroder, the rookie point guard out of Germany. Schroder attempted to work over the pick, but as he did laid his left fist below Cousins' belt and hooked him as he continued to chase Thomas.
Schroder played 19 minutes on Tuesday and finished with six points, seven assists and four personal fouls.
The 17th overall pick in the 2013 draft is averaging 6.3 points and 4.3 assists per game backing up Hawks starting point guard Jeff Teague.
Against the speedy Nuggets, Atlanta and coach Mike Budenholzer will likely turn to third-string point guard Shelvin Mack to eat up the minutes available by Schroder's absence. Mack has appeared in one game this season and played just four minutes.
