Vince Carter suspended 1 game for elbowing Steven Adams

The Mavs guard will have to sit out Friday night’s game against the Timberwolves.

The NBA has suspended Dallas Mavericks guard Vince Carter one game for elbowing Oklahoma City Thunder rookie center Steven Adams in the head on Thursday night.

Carter elbowed Adams in the head with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter of the Mavs’ 107-93 loss to the Thunder in Oklahoma City. The elbow appeared to be in retaliation for an Adams elbow just moments before:

Carter was ejected from the game for his elbow, and with this suspension, he'll be forced to miss Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Carter will miss out on $35,333 thanks to the suspension, according to Dwain Price of the Star-Telegram.

After enjoying a solid campaign off the bench for the Mavs in 2012-13, Carter has gotten off to a slow start this season. The 36-year-old is averaging 9.2 points while shooting just 37.0 percent overall and 26.3 percent from three-point range.
