The Knicks’ season hasn’t started well and the players held a closed-door meeting after their loss to the Bobcats.

The New York Knicks opened the season with a win against the Milwaukee Bucks but have lost three straight games since, most recently losing to the Charlotte Bobcats in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. The team held a players-only meeting after the five-point loss, reports Ian Begley of ESPN:

“We shut the door after the game and talked it out a little bit and tried to figure out what was happening,” Anthony said Friday.

Anthony’s message to his teammates was direct.

“We’ve got to want it, we’ve got to want to do it. We’ve got to believe in ourselves, and right now we’re playing like we don’t even believe in ourselves,” Anthony said. “It’s just effort.”

The team has struggled on offense, shooting 43 percent from the field and 30 percent from beyond the arc. The Knicks are also averaging 16.8 turnovers per game. New York currently averages 96.7 points per 100 possessions, ranked 23rd out of 30 teams.

The Knicks will also need to improve on defense with center Tyson Chandler expected to miss at least four weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his right fibula. New York faces Charlotte again Friday night, followed by games against the San Antonio Spurs, Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets.
