Chris Paul scored 22 points, Jamal Crawford added 21 off the bench and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Boston Celtics, 96-88, on Wednesday night. Returning to Boston for the first time since the offseason trade with L.A., Rivers' new club got the best of his old one.

Midway through the first and second quarters at TD Garden, the Celtics celebrated the return of their old head coach with a special video. By halftime, Boston had extended its lead to 45-39, but the Clippers started the second half with a 14-4 run and eventually led by as many as eight in the fourth quarter.

As usual, Paul had a strong game for Los Angeles, leading the way with 22 points, eight assists and seven rebounds. Blake Griffin also had 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the win.

For the Celtics, Jeff Green had a big game with 29 points on 10-of-23 shooting. Jordan Crawford (19 points, nine assists) and Brandon Bass (17 points, 12 rebounds) also played well, but Boston's bench scored just four points combined in a weak effort.

With the victory, the Clippers improve to 15-8 this season and move above .500 on the road. The Celtics drop to 10-14 with their second straight loss.
