Raymond Felton injury: Knicks guard could be out ‘little while’ with hamstring issue

A bum hamstring that’s been bothering New York Knicks guard Raymond Felton could keep him out until it heals.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Raymond Felton sat out Wednesday night against the Chicago Bulls with a hamstring injury, and after the game, New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson said his point guard would be out "a little while" to allow the leg to heal, according to ESPN New York's Ian Begley.

Since the preseason, Felton has been dealing with hamstring and hip soreness that kept him out of four games earlier in the season, and he tweaked the hamstring on Tuesday in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

New York isn’t putting a timeline on a return, and Woodson isn’t even calling it a “day-to-day” type of injury. Felton said that he just might try sitting out so he returns around 100 percent.

“I’m a warrior,” Felton said on Tuesday. “I want to be out there with my teammates, trying to fight with them, trying to fight out of this slump that we’re in. But if I can’t be there 100 percent healthy -- which I haven’t been, but I’ve been trying -- maybe I just need to sit down.”

Veteran Pablo Prigioni started in Felton's place in New York's 83-78 win against the Bulls on Wednesday, and backup Beno Udrih saw extended minutes to score eight points. Felton has averaged 10.3 points and 5.2 assists per game this year.
