Mike D’Antoni, Lakers hold team meeting on Friday

Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni wants players to hash out issues in-house.

USA TODAY Sports

With more tumult hitting the newswire in Los Angeles over the last couple of days, Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni wanted to do what he could to nip this thing in the bud. D'Antoni and big man Pau Gasol had a recent not-so-cordial exchange through the media, and D'Antoni reportedly called for a team meeting on Friday to address this and other issues at hand.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported this via Twitter late Friday night:

Gasol and D’Antoni have already had disagreements over playing style during their short 13-month history together, so this is nothing new in the Lakers’ world. But Gasol’s contract is an expiring one and the more conflict arises, the more questionable Gasol’s future with the organization becomes.

This will certainly be interesting to watch as the February trade deadline approaches.
