J.J. Redick Injury: Clippers guard aiming for Jan. 15 return

The Clippers should get their sharpshooter back in about a month.

Los Angeles Clippers guard J.J. Redick is looking to make his return to the court in the middle of January, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne:

Redick fractured his wrist and partially tore his ulnar collateral ligament on Nov. 29 in Sacramento and a few days later the team announced he would be out of the lineup for six to eight weeks. A Jan. 15 return is at the low end of that spectrum, indicating that Redick hasn’t suffered any setbacks.

Two weeks ago, Redick said he was frustrated with not being able to play but he saw the bright side of the situation, via InsideSoCal’s Phil Collin:

“It’s an upper body injury so I can stay in great shape and get in even better shape cardio-wise,” Redick said. “While most guys’ legs are going to be tailing off toward the end of January, I’ll have fresh legs. A couple of coaches said it’ll be like trading for somebody right before the all-star break. I’m hoping I have five more months of basketball to play this season.”

Los Angeles misses Redick on both ends of the floor and has gone 4-4 in December without him. His absence has been compounded by injuries to small forwards Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock. The Clippers signed Stephen Jackson last week to give them a boost on the perimeter.

Redick is averaging a career-high 15.8 points on 46 percent shooting this season, playing 28 minutes per game before the injury.
