Josh Smith went for 30 points, seven rebounds and two blocks just one game after notching 31 points, and the Pistons brought down one of the NBA's titans of the 2013-14 season. And they did so by absolutely destroying the Pacers on the glass, taking care of the ball and hitting some big free throws down the stretch. Smith also made his mark in the most important moments of the game.
J-Smoove cracked a massive rejection on David West against the backboard with less than 45 seconds remaining to preserve a four-point lead, and Detroit held on the rest of the way to secure the win.
Indiana is generally one of the best rebounding teams in the league, but Detroit outboarded the Pacers, 55-40, and grabbed 20 offensive rebounds in this one. Greg Monroe had 13 points and 12 rebounds, Andre Drummond chipped in nine points and nine boards in just 21 minutes, Brandon Jennings contributed 18 points and eight assists and the Pistons allowed Indy to shoot just 43 percent from the floor.
Lance Stephenson had 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists, but Paul George hit just four of his 14 shots in the game. Both teams took care of the ball, combining for only 15 turnovers.
