New York Knicks big man Amar'e Stoudemire will be "out for a while" after his knee swelled up after the team's 102-101 loss to the Washington Wizards, Mike Woodson told media during Knicks practice Tuesday, according to Al Lannazzone of Newsday. Stoudemire finished the game going just 1 for 7 from the field for four points and four rebounds. The Knicks were in the final leg of a stretch of four games in five nights. Stoudemire played in all four games.
Amar’e Stoudemire injury: Knicks big man ‘out for a while’ with knee swelling
Stoudemire’s knee is swollen and the Knicks expect him to be “out for a while.”

Stoudemire, for his part, denied that he was injured and suggested he was only staying back because of the team’s busy recent schedule.
Fans, IM NOT INJURED, just want u to know I'm ONLY stay'n bk bc of 6 games n 9 days w/ bk2bks! Body & Knees feel great! #Knicks #STAT
— Amar'e Stoudemire (@Amareisreal) December 17, 2013 Stoudemire has already missed five games this season and this is another blow to the Knicks' frontcourt depth. Tyson Chandler has not returned since suffering a leg injury over a month ago and Kenyon Martin is expected to miss time with an abdominal strain. Only Andrea Bargnani and Cole Aldrich remain healthy frontcourt players for New York.
It’s unclear how long “out for a while” is, but he has been ruled out of the Knicks’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday. Stoudemire is averaging career-lows in points, minutes and rebounds per game in his fourth season with the Knicks.
