NBA suspends Jordan Hamilton a game for hitting Thunder’s Steven Adams

The NBA has suspended Denver Nuggets swingman Jordan Hamilton for punching Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams.

Chris Humphreys-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Nuggets swingman Jordan Hamilton has been suspended one game by the NBA for throwing a punch and making contact with the shoulder of Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams. Hamilton will miss a game against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night without pay.

In Denver’s 105-93 loss to Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Hamilton chased after an offensive rebound with his team trailing 75-65, but was shouldered by a pivoting Adams as the Thunder pushed the ball the other way. Hamilton seemingly took it as a dirty play and reacted to running into the rookie big man by swinging his right fist into Adam’s right shoulder. The Nuggets’ swingman was ejected after a flagrant 2 foul was called, and he finished the game with four points and five rebounds.

Hamilton has grown into an important piece off the bench for first-year head coach Brian Shaw. The third-year gunner is averaging 8.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while hitting 38.6 percent of his three-point shots.
