Los Angeles Lakers point guards Steve Nash and Jordan Farmar will be out at least another four weeks and one week, respectively, the Los Angeles Lakers announced on Thursday, via ESPN's Ramona Shelburne and the Lakers' official Twitter account.
Lakers’ Steve Nash out another four weeks, Jordan Farmar another week
Laker fans might be best served to just not think about their current backcourt situation.

Nash has missed all but six games this season due to back problems. The 39-year-old two-time MVP last played against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 10, but had to leave the game in the first half because he was in too much pain. He is dealing with the same nerve issues that plagued him at the end of last season, and in late November he traveled to Vancouver to work with his longtime physiotherapist, Rick Celebrini. Whenever he's spoken to the media this season, he's maintained that he'll come back when he feels he can play consistently at a high level, a stance he maintained Thursday:
Nash said the extended time frame was not due to a setback. He simply doesn't want to rush back and not be able to sustain it.
— Ramona Shelburne (@ramonashelburne) December 19, 2013 Farmar tore his left hamstring in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 1. While he had hoped to return to the lineup this week, an ultrasound revealed the hamstring needs more time to heal. Farmar was a bright spot for the Lakers early in the year, averaging 9.7 points, 4.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 20 minutes per game before the injury.
With Steve Blake still nursing an elbow injury and the unfortunate news that Kobe Bryant will miss the next six weeks, Los Angeles' backcourt situation is dire. Xavier Henry will start at point guard when the Lakers face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, but head coach Mike D'Antoni said they might need to add someone to the roster, via Shelburne.
