The worn-down Brooklyn Nets took another hit on the injury front Monday when it was determined forward Paul Pierce's bruised hand was actually a break. The team said in a press release that Pierce will miss from two to four weeks after suffering a non-displaced fracture to the third metacarpal bone in his right hand.

Pierce injured himself in the first half of a game Friday against the Houston Rockets. His night ended after 15 minutes of play, and he was held out of Brooklyn's game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday with what was believed to be a bruised hand. Alan Anderson started in place of Pierce, effectively moving shooting guard Joe Johnson to the small forward spot. The injury to Pierce also opened up more playing time for Tornike Shengelia.
Brooklyn's laundry list of injuries in the last month have included center Brook Lopez, forward Andrei Kirilenko, forward Kevin Garnett, guard Jason Terry and point guard Deron Williams, who is still recovering from a sprained ankle.
On the year, Pierce is averaging 12.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game but shooting just 36.8 percent from the field.
