Charlotte Bobcats small forward Jeff Taylor will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season after suffering a right Achilles rupture, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer has reported.

The injury occurred in the first quarter of the Bobcats' game Friday night against the Detroit Pistons. For Charlotte, it's a pretty significant blow to the team's already-thin group of wings. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is still recovering from a broken left hand and likely won't be back until January. Taylor had been starting in his place.
With those two sidelined, the Bobcats will likely turn to Anthony Tolliver and recent D-League pickup Chris Douglas-Roberts as filler on the wings. The team could also go to some smaller lineups that give more playing time to the team's backcourt options.
A second-round pick by the Bobcats in 2012, Taylor appeared in 26 games for the team this season. He averaged eight points per game, but shot just 38 percent from the field and 27 percent from three-point range. However, he did put up better numbers in 77 games as a rookie.
