Former Phoenix Suns 2012 first-round draft pick Kendall Marshall has been claimed in the NBA D-League waiver process by the Delaware 87ers, reports Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports.

Kendall Marshall has been claimed by a D-League team after being waived by the Wizards.

Marshall was immediately waived by the Washington Wizards after he was included in the trade that sent Marcin Gortat to Washington and was not claimed by an NBA team. The 87ers are the newest D-League team and the direct affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Marshall was the 13th overall pick in last year’s draft and decided to go the route of playing through the D-league to find his way back into the NBA, putting his name in the player pool last week. The D-League can give him an opportunity to work on his game and showcase his abilities in a controlled, professional environment.

He played two years at North Carolina prior to entering the draft. During Marshall’s final year in college he averaged 8.1 points and 9.8 assists per game, but struggled to work his way into the Suns’ rotation during his rookie season. He appeared in just 48 games for Phoenix and averaged three points and three assists per game.
