Brooklyn Nets general manager Billy King expects injured point guard Deron Williams to return to the lineup from a sprained left ankle next Tuesday against the Boston Celtics, according to TNT's Rachel Nichols.

The Nets desperately need their point guard back after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Knicks.

The news of Williams' impending return is a dim beacon of light for a Nets team that is now the laughingstock of New York following an embarrassing 113-83 loss at the hands of the New York Knicks on Thursday. The Barclays Center sounded decidedly pro-Knicks for much of the night, and what Nets fans remained in attendance in the fourth quarter made their disgust known.
Williams has missed eight straight games and 10 overall with his ankle injury. The point guard initially suffered the injury on Nov. 15 and missed two games. After a return five days later, he re-aggravated the injury and hasn’t seen the court since.
While Williams has struggled in the games he has played this season, the Nets clearly miss his presence. Brooklyn is 2-8 without Williams and have been going with a point guard rotation of Tyshawn Taylor and Shaun Livingston, which hasn't been effective. The Nets looked especially helpless Thursday night despite going against a Knicks team that has struggled as much as they have.
