The New York Knicks will not be trading Carmelo Anthony this year, according to a report by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.
Knicks have no interest in trading Carmelo Anthony, according to report
If the Knicks part ways with their superstar, it will be in free agency next summer.

Anthony, last year’s NBA scoring champion, will be a free agent this summer. The Knicks, despite a two-game winning streak that has them feeling pretty confident, are bad enough that many in NBA circles are speculating whether ‘Melo will want to re-sign with the team — and whether the Knicks should bring him back at all.
The Knicks acquired their star via trade the season before he became a free agent in a deal that still vexes some Knicks fans, giving away Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov and a pair of first round picks. That won’t be the route they go this year, as owner James Dolan, who takes pride in convincing ‘Melo to sign long-term with the Knicks, according to Windhorst, will stick with Anthony until Anthony decides to leave town.
The Knicks are 5-13 so far in 2013-2014, and Anthony is third in the NBA with 25.6 points per game, but he’s shooting 43.5 percent from the field, which would be the third-lowest mark of his now 11-year career.
