Philadelphia 76ers rookie point guard Michael Carter-Williams is sidelined with a skin infection on his knee, the team has announced. Carter-Williams has been hospitalized for three nights, according to the team.

The 76ers are missing their starting point guard due to a knee infection.

The bacterial infection of the skin on Carter-Williams’ knee is “now under control,” according to Jason Wolf of Delaware Online. Carter-Williams last played Dec. 3 the Magic but missed Philadelphia’s loss to the Bobcats on Friday. He currently being listed as day-to-day with the ailment.
The rookie has been a driving force behind the 76ers’ success this season. A first-round pick out of Syracuse, he has 17.7 points per game along with 5.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists. He also averages 3.1 steals per game and is one of the front-runners for NBA Rookie of the Year honors.
The 76ers are in second place in the Atlantic division in the Eastern Conference. At 7-13, Philadelphia is 1.5 games behind the Celtics for the division lead.
