A little less than two weeks ago, a 469-page report questioned many of the actions taken by NBPA executive director Billy Hunter. The biggest repercussion of that report came Friday, as Hunter was placed on indefinite leave, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Billy Hunter has been placed on an indefinite leave of absence after an independent audit revealed that he allocated funds questionably and used his NBA Players Association position. to provide jobs for family members.

Deputy general counsel Ron Klempner will be appointed interim executive director, according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports.
In the initial report, it was found that Hunter’s current contract was not approved by union leadership. He also was paid $1.3 million for unused vacation time without independent review. Another transgression was the fact that Hunter failed to disclose conflicts of interest when hiring family or friends.
In a letter dated Jan. 23, Hunter informed committee members that he was firing both his daughter and daughter-in-law from positions within the NBPA.
There were also questionable uses for funds under Hunter's watch. Those included $22,000 spent on a watch for Derek Fisher and $28,000 on personal legal fees for Charles Smith.
Hunter has served as executive director since 1996.
