Marco Belinelli and Taj Gibson each got looks from the three-point line as time expired, but Paul Pierce's free throws late iced the game for the Boston Celtics as they prevailed, 71-69 at TD Garden on Wednesday night.

Brandon Bass led the way for the Celtics (28-24), scoring 14 points and adding nine rebounds. Kevin Garnett notched a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Belinelli scored a team-high 12 points off the bench for Chicago (30-22), while Carlos Boozer and Jimmy Butler each added 11.
The fourth quarter sealed the Bulls’ fate Chicago shot just 31.6 percent from the field on 6-of-19 shots. They struggled from the three-point line and managed just a 1-for-9 effort.
Boston had troubles of their own from the field and shot just 36.8 percent for the game, but they overcame that issue by forcing 22 turnovers by the Bulls. They had an abysmal second and third quarter, where they scored just 11 and eight points. The third quarter was sloppy for both teams, as the two teams scored a combined 21 points.
Chicago mitigated their giveaways by winning the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Celtics by a margin of 47-39 in a tight game that featured eight ties and six lead changes.
