Derrick Rose participated in five-on-five practices Monday for the first time since his ACL tear in last year’s playoffs, a great sign for his impending return to action.

Jon Greenberg of ESPNChicago reports that Rose participated in a full scrimmage as planned before the All-Star break. Teammate Kirk Hinrich said that Rose participated in practice like any other member of the team - a first, as Rose had not played five-on-five despite being cleared for full contact.
The Bulls have understandably been extremely cautious dealing with the return of their superstar point guard. Ricky O'Donnell of Blog a Bull broke down the media mania surrounding updates on Rose's knee over the past few weeks- something O'Donnell guessed was two weeks away, purely speculating. The plan has always been a return in between the All-Star Game and the end of the regular season - although he's stressed there's been no set date - and that's the window we're in right now. There haven't been any major setbacks, besides maybe reports that Rose can't still dunk from last week, something teammate Joakim Noah confirmed after Monday's practice. No matter when the team plans for Rose to come back, it's a good sign that he was able to return to five-on-five drills as previously scheduled.
