NBA trade rumors: Eric Gordon is reportedly available

Though the Hornets have made the young guard available, there may be some reservations by teams around the league.

While a deal is possible, it’s not imminent or likely given other teams’ concerns about the long-term health of Gordon, who has suffered numerous injuries over the course of his short career. Most recently, the 24-year-old played in only 18 of the Hornets’ first 53 games while dealing with a right knee injury and a sprained right hand.

Gordon is a former first-round pick out of the University of Indiana and has averaged 16.4 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game in 2012-13. The Hornets are 19-35 on the season and have emerged as sellers in what’s appearing to be a relatively quiet trade market.

One such buyer may be the Golden State Warrirors. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported on Tuesday that the Hornets would interested to pursue any deal that included second-year shooting guard Klay Thompson. The only hangup in such a deal could lie in the fact that the Warriors think the former Washington State star could be ready to break out as a professional.

They’ve missed Gordon’s offense this season as they’ve managed to put up a pedestrian 94.1 points per game. They’ve also been porous on defense, however, and allow 97.1 points per game to opponents.
