Josh Smith trade rumors: Hawks don’t want Kris Humphries’ contract from Nets

The Atlanta Hawks may still trade Josh Smith before the 2013 NBA trade deadline (3 p.m. ET on Thursday), but aren’t interested in acquiring Brooklyn Nets big man Kris Humphries in any deal.

The Atlanta Hawks appear willing to listen to trade offers for talented big man Josh Smith right up to the 3 p.m. ET trade deadline on Thursday, but aren't interested in a key trade piece from the Brooklyn Nets.

Atlanta has "made it clear it wants no part of Kris Humphries," according to Mark Stein of ESPN. That could make it difficult to for the Nets to deal for J-Smoove.

Nets general manager Billy King doesn't have many attractive trade assets on the team, so Humphries and MarShon Brooks are the names that come up in most deals. Humphries signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the Nets during the offseason, and this year hasn't come anywhere close to justifying that contract. Through 47 games with the Nets in 2012-13, Hump has posted just 6.0 points and 6.2 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per game to go with an underwhelming 13.8 PER -- his lowest PER since 2006-07 with the Raptors.

The Nets were believed to be offering the Hawks Brooks, Humphries and either a first-round pick or Bojan Bogdanovic, which means King would now need to find a third team to take on Humphries' gaudy salary if the Nets still hope to land Smith.
