NBA trade rumors: Hawks interested in DeJuan Blair, according to report

The San Antonio Spurs might look to move one of their reserve forwards as the trade deadline nears.

Brendan Maloney-US PRESSWIRE

The San Antonio Spurs are trying to move DeJuan Blair -- who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer -- and one suitor could be the Atlanta Hawks, per Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld.

Blair can walk as an unrestricted free agent after the season, and the Spurs understand that he’ll likely look for greener pastures.

That’s why San Antonio is trying to move him before the deadline, even if it’s just for a draft pick. While no clear suitor has emerged yet, San Antonio seems confident that they can find a taker for Blair and it could be the Atlanta Hawks.

Blair has one of the more interesting stories in the NBA, as he has no anterior cruciate ligaments (ACL) in either knee, but that has not been an issue for him during his four year career. Blair has averaged 8.0 points and 6.0 rebounds during his time in San Antonio, but he has seen his role with the team diminish this season.

Blair went from averaging over 21 minutes per game the last two seasons, to playing in just over 13 minutes a game this season for Gregg Popovich. The lack of minutes has led to a lack of production as Blair is averaging career lows in points with 5.3 and rebounds with 3.8 on the season.

With the trade deadline drawing closer, keep an eye on what the Spurs do.
