Kenyon Martin and the New York Knicks have agreed to a 10-day contract for the veteran forward, Yahoo!'s Marc J. Spears reported. The move came after Thursday's NBA trade deadline passed without the Knicks finding any move that would help the depth in their front court.

The New York Knicks agreed to sign free-agent Kenyon Martin to a 10-day contract as Rasheed Wallace’s injury lingers.

Martin played for the Los Angeles Clippers last season, averaging 5.2 points and 4.3 rebounds. The 35-year-old Cincinnati product was looking to sign with an NBA team -- Miami was also recently interested in his services -- but was reportedly asking for a mid-level exception. Teams were worried about his multiple knee problems.
Martin is familiar with a number of the current Knicks. He played with Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith and Marcus Camby when they were with the Denver Nuggets. Jason Kidd also played with Martin with the New Jersey Nets.
New York was looking for a backup big man as aging veterans Camby and Rasheed Wallace have struggled to return from injury. Wallace was averaging 7.2 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, but had sat out since mid-December with a stress reaction in his foot. Camby has sat out since mid-January with a plantar faschia injury.
The Knicks were eyeing the Phoenix Suns' Jermaine O'Neal before the trade deadline, but the veteran center wasn't moved.
