The Oklahoma City Thunder have reached an agreement with veteran point guard Derek Fisher to sign for the remainder of the season. ESPN.com first reported the impending deal, with Yahoo! Sports confirming a short time later.

After trading away Eric Maynor, the Thunder have brought back veteran Derek Fisher for the remainder of the season.

This will be Fisher’s second stint in Oklahoma City in as many years. The Thunder signed the 38-year-old last season to help with a playoff push. In 20 regular season games, Fisher averaged 4.9 points on 34.3 percent shooting overall and 31.4 percent from three. He did perform marginally better in the postseason, averaging 6.3 points on 41.5 percent shooting and 37.5 percent from long range during Oklahoma City’s run to the NBA Finals.
Fisher signed with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this season, but only played in nine games before suffering a knee injury. He then asked the Mavs for his release so he could spend more time with his family.
The Thunder had room for another point guard after trading Eric Maynor to the Portland Trail Blazers in a deadline deal on Thursday. Fisher is expected to officially sign his contract on Monday.
