In a sloppy game where both teams struggled from the field, the Washington Wizards were the lesser of the two evils as they defeated the Toronto Raptors, 90-84, at the Air Canada Centre on Monday night.

Both teams shot poorly, and the game turned out to be a matter of survival. Washington (18-37) shot just 42 percent from the field while the Raptors (23-34) managed a 36.7 mark. With the victory, Washington won its fifth road game of the season.
Bradley Beal led the way for the Wizards with 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting and was 2-for-3 from the three-point line. John Wall added 10 points and seven assists. Washington got a balanced scoring effort, as five players finished in double figures.
Toronto's DeMar DeRozan had 25 points to lead all scorers. Kyle Lowry was the only other Raptors player to score in double figures, finishing with 18 points.
Washington was on cruise control through three quarters, and led 63-54 at that point. But Derozan’s 10 fourth-quarter points helped Toronto keep things interesting down the stretch.
The Wizards used their transition game to score 17 fast-break points and outscored the Raptors in the paint, 38-32. Toronto entered the night just four games back of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot behind the Milwaukee Bucks, and lost valuable ground with the loss.
