Charlotte Bobcats rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist left Saturday's loss to the Houston Rockets with what is reportedly a concussion. Kidd-Gilchrist had X-rays and a CT scan at a Houston hospital that showed no further injuries.

Kidd-Gilchrist fell head-first into teammate Jeff Taylor's knee in the fourth quarter of the game and collapsed to the court. He left the game on a stretcher with his head and neck immobilized. Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports that Kidd-Gilchrist was conscious and talking when he was taken to the hospital.
“I was down there by his side, telling him it would be all right,” Taylor told Bonnell. “Everybody was just trying to calm him. Obviously it was a scary situation.”
Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 26 minutes per game this season. He's shooting 47 percent from the field. The Bobcats have not said how many games he'll potentially miss. Ben Gordon could see more minutes in Kidd-Gilchrist's absence.
Kidd-Gilchrist was chosen to participate in Saturday’s Rising Stars Challenge as part of All-Star Weekend. It’s unclear if he’ll be healthy enough to play by then.
