Charlotte Bobcats small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will likely miss the next two games after suffering a concussion against the Houston Rockets on Saturday night, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports. The rookie still needs to pass the NBA's post-concussion protocol before he'll be cleared to play by the league.

On Saturday, Kidd-Gilchrist collided with teammate Jeff Taylor while trying to defend a Toney Douglas layup, taking a shot to the head in the process. He laid motionless for several minutes before medical personnel fit his neck with a brace and carted him off the court.
After leaving the arena, MKG was taken a Houston hospital, where he underwent X-rays and a CAT scan, both of which came back negative. The second overall pick in the 2012 draft then flew back to Miami to rejoin his teammates on Sunday after being released from the hospital.
Supervised by a Michigan State neurology professor, Kidd-Gilchrist will undergo a series of forms of exertion, Bonnell writes. The results of the tests are then compared to baseline results taken from a healthy Kidd-Gilchrist during the preseason. As Rufus on Fire notes, that process may only take a couple days, but it could also take a bit longer.
