NBA trade rumors: Grizzlies won’t deal Zach Randolph, interested in Courtney Lee

Memphis is done stripping down its roster and is looking to add pieces.

USA TODAY Sports

After dealing Rudy Gay, the future of Zach Randolph in Memphis looked murky. But the Grizzlies appear to be done trading away big pieces, as Randolph's spot on the team is safe this season, according to Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal.

Randolph has been a member of the Grizzlies since 2009 and is averaging 15.7 points per game and 11.7 rebounds per game.

While the Grizzlies might be committed to keeping their core together, that doesn't mean they are done in the trade market. Memphis would like to acquire some perimeter help with its $7.5 million trade exception, and Boston's Courtney Lee looks like a target, according to Ric Bucher of ESPN.

Bucher adds that a trade would likely need to result in Boston getting some frontline help. Lee is averaging 7.3 points per game for the Celtics this season, and is a 38 percent shooter from beyond the arc in his career.

A trade is no given, though. Tillery tweeted that another deal for Memphis is at no better than 50/50 odds at this point.

It was unclear whether the Grizzlies would continue to break up their core after dealing Rudy Gay to the Raptors. In that trade, Memphis received Ed Davis from Toronto and Tayshaun Prince and Austin Daye from the Detroit Pistons.
