The Miami Heat host the Indiana Pacers at 6 p.m. ET Sunday looking to win their 18th straight game. The Pacers were the last team to beat Miami, notching a 102-89 win on Feb. 1.
Sunday NBA schedule: Pacers will try to stop Miami’s 17-game winning streak
The Pacers are the latest team to get a crack at stopping Miami’s 17-game winning streak.
The Pacers (39-23) are 14-16 on the road this season and are one of just five teams that Miami (46-14) plays in its next 13 games with a winning record. They have two wins against the Heat this season, also beating them 87-77 in January. Those games, however, were in Indiana.
The Pacers have done a solid job defending LeBron James in those games. James averages 25 points per game against the Pacers, but he also averages five turnovers in those two contests.
Miami's streak has been fueled by improved play from Dwyane Wade. Wade is averaging 25 points per game since the All-Star break and shooting 59 percent in those nine games -- improvements over his season averages of 21.7 points per game and 52 percent shooting.
Although they aren't on a streak anything like Miami's, Indiana has played well of late too, led by Paul George. In nine games since the All-Star break, George has upped his shooting, three-point shooting and scoring numbers for the Pacers. The Pacers are 7-2 in that stretch. George is averaging 22 points per game in two games against Miami this season.
