The 30-year-old hasn't played since March 13 and remains out indefinitely. The MRI is expected to reveal any damage and help Chandler and the Knicks determine the best course of action in terms of treatment.

In 62 games this season, he has averaged 10.7 points and 11.0 rebounds, and has showcased his NBA Defensive Player of the Year form with 1.1 blocks per contest. The Knicks will need Chandler in the middle if they are going to be successful in the playoffs.

Chandler's absence is just one of several injuries the Knicks have endured this season. Carmelo Anthony continues to battle a knee issue that has caused him to miss time, while Amar'e Stoudemire is expected to be out for the remainder of the regular season with a knee issue of his own.

Despite all the ailments though, going into Monday's contest against the Utah Jazz, New York is sitting in first place in the Atlantic Division and has a 38-26 record.
