Delonte West will join NBA D-League’s Texas Legends, according to report

Delonte West will report to the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League on Monday. West was waived by the Mavericks earlier this season and initially refused to join the Legends in January when they picked him up.

USA TODAY Sports

Free agent guard Delonte West will join the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League on Monday, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski.

West was picked up by the Legends - the Dallas Mavericks' D-League affiliate - back in January. However, the veteran guard refused to report to the team because Mavs owner Mark Cuban said that he would not be brought back to Dallas. West had been under the impression that the Mavs may re-sign him after a stint in the D-League.

West was a solid contributor for the Mavs last season, averaging 9.6 points and 3.2 assists in 44 games. But prior to this year, Dallas suspended West twice for conduct detrimental to the team before waiving him on Oct. 30. West has had a history of problems, mostly stemming from his bi-polar disorder.

By reporting to the Legends, West will be eligible to sign with any other NBA team. So while the Mavs may not want him back, another team looking for some guard help may show some interest if his time in D-League goes well.
