Danny Ainge: LeBron James complaining about hard fouls is ‘almost embarrassing’

Danny Ainge took a shot at LeBron James, calling his complaining about hard fouls during the Miami Heat’s loss to the Chicago Bulls “almost embarrassing”.

David Banks

Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge took a shot at LeBron James, calling James' complaining about being fouled hard by the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday "embarrassing," via Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald:

“I don’t think either one of those were flagrants, and I think the one — LeBron against Boozer — was flagrant, yes. I think the officials had it right…,” Ainge said during a weekly radio-show appearance in Boston. “I think that it’s almost embarrassing that LeBron would complain about officiating.”

James was vocal about two specific fouls he felt were hard during the loss: one from Kirk Hinrich in which he stated the point guard "pulled him down," and another in which he said Taj Gibson pulled his shoulder and caused him to hit the ground.

The Heat eventually would lose to the Bulls, short of reaching the 33 game record set by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers, but second in league history overall. 27 straight victories later, a few hard fouls, and a small battle of words between Ainge and James has commenced.

The referees certainly don't have a problem calling fouls in James' favor, though, as he is ranked sixth in the league in free throw attempts (506). James responded to Ainge's comments during the Heat's shootaround Friday morning, via Goodman:

“Nothing that comes out of Boston surprises me,” James said on Friday morning after the Heat’s shootaround at New Orleans Arena.

The Celtics visit Miami on April 12 as the regular season winds down.
