Bradley Beal injury: Sprained ankle will be re-evaluated Monday

Wizards rookie Bradley Beal will have his sprained left ankle re-evaluated on Monday. X-rays on the ankle came back negative.

USA TODAY Sports

Washington Wizards rookie shooting guard Bradley Beal said late Sunday night that X-rays came back negative on his sprained left ankle, and that he will be re-evaluated on Monday.

Beal injured the ankle late in the Wizards' 90-87 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, landing awkwardly after getting beaten on a backdoor cut. The rookie had to be carried off the court and was later seen on crutches in the locker room, but the fact that the injury has only been diagnosed as a sprain thus far is most certainly a positive. Beal himself admitted that he thought the injury was a lot more serious.

John Wall did say that Beal has been dealing with a high ankle sprain in his right ankle, which could help explain why the rookie could not make it to the locker room on his own. There's no timetable for Beal's return as of yet, and he's currently listed as day-to-day.

Beal has been a huge part of the Wizards’ recent resurgence. After a slow start, he averaged 15.1 points in January and was even better in February, averaging 17.5 points on 48.1 percent shooting.
