LeBron James said after the Miami Heat's 99-93 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday that he would have his left knee checked out by team doctors for precautionary measures, according to Joseph Goodman of the Miami Herald.

James injured his knee while going up for an alley-oop in the third quarter of Sunday’s game. The Heat star was hit in the air and landed awkwardly, forcing him to grab his knee in pain. He remained in the game and knocked down a shot just moments later.

Update: The results from James’ examination were positive and he will play Monday night, Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel reports. “Everything checked out fine this morning. He responded pretty well,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra says.

The reigning MVP certainly showed no ill-effects from the injury throughout the rest of the game, scoring 12 fourth-quarter points to lead Miami to victory. James finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, which was just another day at the office for the best player in the world.

James did admit that he was a bit concerned about the injury, and he expected the knee to swell up when the team flew to Minneapolis for their game against the Timberwolves on Monday. However, he does expect to play.
