Carmelo Anthony injury: Knicks forward questionable Wednesday against Pistons

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is questionable for a game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday with a stiff knee.

USA TODAY Sports

Carmelo Anthony is questionable for the New York Knicks' game against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday with what the team called a stiff and sore right knee, according to the New York Post's Marc Berman. The Knicks forward was previously listed as day-to-day with an unspecific knee injury.

Knicks coach Mike Woodson told ESPN New York's 98.7 FM on Tuesday that Anthony would be re-evaluated before the Pistons game.

Anthony first showed signs of a problem on Monday, when he left with seven minutes to play in the first half of a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He didn't return. After New York's 102-97 win, Anthony told the media that he had been dealing with a knee problem over the course of the last few days and tried to give it a go but couldn't.

ESPN New York reported that an MRI had already been taken on the knee and there was no structural damage revealed.

Anthony was also banged up on Sunday in a game against the Miami Heat. He left shortly before halftime in the 99-93 loss with an apparent elbow injury but returned for the second half.

Anthony is averaging 28.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season.
