Roy Hibbert’s offensive game, confidence returns

Though Roy Hibbert has found confidence on the offense end of the floor, he’s happy taking fewer shots.

USA TODAY Sports

Roy Hibbert's numbers before the All-Star break weren't looking so good. He was his usually solid self on defense, blocking 2.7 shots per game and grabbing 8.3 rebounds, but he was putting up 10 points per night while struggling from the field, shooting just 41 percent.

Since, Hibbert has regained his offensive confidence, and he told 1070 The Fan that confidence was an issue early on as a wrist injury hampered his offensive production, according to a transcription from Sports Radio Interviews.

“I mean to tell you the truth I ... the shots that I normally took weren’t going in,” Hibbert said. “The touch was going. If I try to shoot it one way it’d be like six inches off a little bit. I mean, to normal people who are listening right now, they think ... it should be able to go right in.”

In seven games since the All-Star break, Hibbert is only scoring 12.7 points, but he's shooting a much improved 55 percent from the floor. He added in the interview with 1070 The Fan that his wrist is no longer bothering him. Furthermore, he's not pressured to begin taking more shots with Paul George and now Danny Granger plenty capable of being the main facilitators in the points department.
