Is Dwight Howard becoming a leader for the Los Angeles Lakers? Metta World Peace sounded off on his thoughts on Howard the "leader" on ESPNLA 710 Radio, and believes the center is in the process of learning to be a leader, but hasn't been "in that situation enough to lead by example", via Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles:

The Lakers are waiting to see if Dwight Howard will be the franchise center they desired, and Metta World Peace believes that Howard is learning how to lead.

“Dwight is learning how to be a leader,” World Peace told ESPNLA 710 on Thursday. “He’s not yet a vocal leader because he hasn’t been in that situation enough to lead by example...”
No reason for Los Angeles fans to fret, though, as World Peace has taken to teaching Howard what it means to be a leader, via Markazi:
I have to really step up and lead more vocally and by example and I try to teach Dwight a little bit about what it takes to lead.

Howard certainly lead by example during the fourth quarter of the Lakers' Wednesday night victory over the New Orleans Hornets. He anchored the defense while the Lakers climbed out of a 25-point deficit. Did that win matter to World Peace? No, because he's playing for championships, and states he "couldn't care less", via Markazi:
Even if we would have lost that game, I’m still playing for championships, I couldn’t care less,” World Peace said. “If we win or lose that game we’re still coming out No. 1 at the end of the season. That game means nothing to me.
In order to play for championships, World Peace must first get into the playoffs, which the Lakers are still 1.5 games out of in the Western Conference playoff standings. Los Angeles is back in action Friday as the Toronto Raptors visit Staples Center.
