NBA 2013 schedule: Spurs visit Grizzlies in battle of West powers

After a tough loss to the Heat, the Spurs travel to Memphis on Monday for a meeting with the Grizzlies.

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

A day after a disappointing home loss to a Miami Heat team playing without LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Mario Chalmers, the San Antonio Spurs will be right back in action on Monday with a tough contest against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Spurs fell 88-86 to the Heat on Sunday after Chris Bosh buried a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds left and Tony Parker missed a potential game-tying shot as the buzzer sounded. Despite the loss, San Antonio remains six games ahead of Memphis in the Southwest Division. The Spurs have won two of the three meetings thus far this season.

The Grizzlies have won two in a row, beating the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-86 in their last outing on Saturday. Marc Gasol had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the victory.

In the other marquee game of the night, the Los Angeles Clippers will host the Indiana Pacers. The Clippers have been scuffling a bit of late, losers of two in a row and three of their last four. The Pacers are rolling toward a division title, as they have won four in a row and hold a six-game lead over the Chicago Bulls in the Central Division.

Also out west, the Utah Jazz will look to move a half-game ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers in the playoff picture when they take on the Portland Trail Blazers. Both the Jazz and Lakers currently share identical 38-36 records.
