Anthony Bennett to make NBA Draft decision Monday
UNLV freshman Anthony Bennett is having a press conference on Monday to announce whether or not he will be declaring for the 2013 NBA Draft.
Most people are assuming that Bennett will declare for the draft, as he’s widely regarded as a high lottery pick. Bennett’s season ended on a rough note with a loss to California in the NCAA Tournament, but his entire body of work over the year should make up for his struggles in that game. The 6’8, 240-pound freshman averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds, and he also played really well in the Mountain West Tournament. He’s currently the No. 5 prospect according to both DraftExpress and ESPN’s Chad Ford.
If Bennett is planning on declaring for the draft, he’s doing an excellent job hiding his decision. Former Findlay Prep teammate and 2013 UNLV recruit Christian Wood says that he has “no idea” what Bennett is planning on doing with his future. Wood would stand to get more playing time next year if Bennett does in fact leave.
