Cody Zeller to declare for 2013 NBA Draft, according to report

Indiana’s Cody Zeller will announce at a press conference on Tuesday that he’s leaving for the NBA after two seasons in Bloomington.

Indiana sophomore Cody Zeller will declare for the 2013 NBA Draft at a press conference on Wednesday, according to Bob Kravitz of the Indy Star.

Zeller had a solid season for the Hoosiers, averaging 16.5 points and 8.1 rebounds on 56.2 percent shooting. The 7'0 big man was named Second Team All-American, and along with Victor Oladipo, helped lead Indiana to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

However, Zeller struggled in the tournament and was especially ineffective in a disappointing loss to Syracuse in the Sweet 16. The big man had 10 points and 10 rebounds, but he shot just 3-of-11 from the field and was blocked at the rim on numerous occasions.

Once regarded as a potential top pick, Zeller has seen his stock drop a bit because of his struggles against athletic and physical defenses like Syracuse. DraftExpress still has him as the No. 6 prospect in this year’s draft, but ESPN’s Chad Ford has him at No. 10 and trending downward.
