Michael Carter-Williams has officially thrown his name into the 2013 NBA Draft pool, Syracuse announced on Wednesday. The sophomore point guard made a leap into the draft discussion this season after playing sparingly as a freshman for Jim Boeheim's Orangemen.

Syracuse sophomore guard Michael Carter-Williams has officially declared for the 2013 NBA Draft.
Carter-Williams played just 10 minutes per game last season and averaged 2.7 points per game before becoming a major contributor for Syracuse this season. The lanky 6’6, 195-pound point guard played 35 minutes per game during his sophomore campaign and averaged 11.9 points and 7.3 assists. He also contributed 2.8 steals per game in his team’s famed zone defense to set a school record in total steals for a season.
Many, including Draft Express, expect Carter-Williams to be selected in the latter half of the draft lottery.
Helping the Orangemen to the Final Four in Atlanta, Carter-Williams is viewed as a high-potential project who could use some weight added to his thin frame. He only shot 39 percent from the field during his sophomore campaign and could also stand to work on his jumper in terms of accuracy and its slow release.
